Love beads are an accessory traditionally associated with hippies. They consist of one or more long strings of beads, often handmade, worn about the neck. Love beads can be worn by both men and women. The love bead trend probably evolved from the hippy interest with non-Western cultures, such as those of India and Native America, which make common use of similar beaded jewelry.
